Description

All RS are special. Some just a little more so.
There’s a reverence that surrounds every 964 RS—for good reason. Some sit a little higher on the podium, and this is one of those cars.

Factory-finished in Amethyst Pearl, delivered new in Italy, and cherished by the same UK owner for over two decades, it pairs rarity of specification with depth of provenance. Maintained, refreshed, and presented with care—this RS doesn’t shout. It simply stands apart.

Few 911s enjoy such universal respect among enthusiasts and collectors as the 964 Carrera RS. Built to homologate Porsche’s Group N racing efforts, the RS wasn’t just lighter—it was sharper, more focused, and far more connected to the road than any standard Carrera. It revived the RS badge with real intent, offering stripped-back performance and mechanical purity at a time when most sports cars were heading in the opposite direction.

Its formula was simple: less weight, more feel. Thinner glass, aluminium panels, no power steering, no rear seats, and—crucially—no airbag. Just a naturally aspirated flat six paired with close gearing, razor-sharp responses, and a chassis tuned for serious driving.

Around 2,200 examples were produced—exclusively for the European market—and while all 964 RS models are special, some, by virtue of specification, provenance, and presentation, leave a more lasting impression.

What we know…..
Originally delivered on 6th October 1992, this C07 Italian-spec 964 RS was supplied by Soveco Srl, the official Porsche Centre for Bologna.

What sets this example apart is its striking and unusual specification: very few RS models were finished in Amethyst Pearl (L38A) making this a rare and highly distinctive example.

Inside, the individuality continues. The lightweight bucket seats are trimmed in tri-colour leather—a vivid and memorable combination of black, mauve, and fuchsia, echoed by matching seat belts and door pulls.

Soveco maintained the car through its early years, with four recorded services. In July 1996, air conditioning was retrofitted by Autoriparazioni.

In late 2001, the RS made its way to the UK via Germany, wearing Zollkennzeichen (temporary German export plates), and was first MOT’d in Devon at 60,470 km. It was registered in the UK shortly after, on 1st January 2002, where it has remained under single ownership ever since.

Servicing continued under respected independent Porsche specialists. In April 2007, at approximately 121,000 km, a top-end engine rebuild was carried out. A new clutch followed at 139,000 km.

By 2014, the owner opted for a full cosmetic refresh to match the car’s exceptional pedigree. After careful planning, Williams Crawford’s restoration department was entrusted with the work.

The car was fully stripped, and minor signs of the typical 964 corrosion were properly addressed. To achieve a high-end finish worthy of the RS, a complete repaint in its original Amethyst was performed.

To complement the repaint, a number of sympathetic improvements were also carried out: the original magnesium Cup wheels were crack-tested and refinished, the driver’s seat leather was carefully repaired, and parts of the suspension were polybushed. During reassembly, the car received new seals, beadings, and gaskets where required, along with replacement rear lights and bumper supports—all contributing to a finish that reflects both authenticity and attention to detail.

(Photographic documentation of the restoration is available.)

Since then, Williams Crawford have continued to care for this RS with regular servicing and maintenance. The most recent service—a major including spark plugs and brake fluid—was completed in 2024 at 167,500 km.

Complete with double keys, the original book pack with service books and manuals, plus tool roll and spare wheel. Benefiting from a Williams Crawford warranty, this 964 RS is ready for its next chapter.

We welcome interest from UK and international buyers and are happy to assist with worldwide export and all associated logistics. Independent inspections welcome.

We are happy to arrange delivery to our customers wherever they live, and have experience delivery cars all over the world.

This is a car that speaks for itself; opportunities to acquire an RS of this rarity, condition and provenance are increasingly scarce.
